What is the difference between being hired and being on assignment?
When you are hired by Performance Personnel, you become an employee of the agency. Performance Personnel pays you, withholds taxes, and provides workers’ compensation. You may be hired but not yet working at a job site.
What’s an assignment?
An assignment is a temporary job where Performance Personnel sends you to work for a client company. You will do your job at the client’s worksite and follow their daily instructions. Performance Personnel is still your employer and handles your pay and other job matters.
Types of assignments:
-
Temporary
-
Temp-to-Hire
-
Direct Hire
-
Project-Based
-
Contract
Assignments can be short or long. Some last a few days, while others may last months.
When an assignment ends, you may still be employed by Performance Personnel and can be placed on a new assignment.
Direct Hire Exception
With Direct Hire, you are hired directly by the client company from the start. In this case, the client becomes your employer, not Performance Personnel.
How do people get placed on assignment?
You are placed on assignment when Performance Personnel matches you with a client company that needs workers.
While on assignment, you work at the client’s location and follow their instructions. Performance Personnel is still your employer and pays you.
Assignments can be short or long. When one assignment ends, you are usually still employed and may be placed on another assignment.
