Interviews can be scary, but preparing for them can help you feel more confident and ready to show off your best self! Here are some tips to help you get ready for your next interview:
Interview Tips in 2023
1. Do Your Research
Before your interview, learn as much as you can about the company or organization you’re interviewing with. Check out their website and social media pages to get a sense of what they do and what their values are. This will help you understand what they’re looking for in an employee. When you work with Performance Personnel, we’ve already done the work of researching the organization for you. Which means we have a jump on setting you up for success!
2. Practice Your Answers
Think about the kinds of questions you might be asked during the interview and practice answering them. Your recruiter can help you prepare for some common interview questions. Practice saying your answers out loud so you can get comfortable speaking in front of others.
3. Dress Nicely
Make sure you wear clothes that are appropriate for the interview. It’s always better to be a little too dressy than too casual. You want to make a good impression, so make sure your clothes are clean and neat.
Not all interviews require a 3 piece suit. So, be sure to talk to your recruiter about what would be the most appropriate for your interview.
And remember, just because an interview is virtual, that does not mean that you should dress casual. Treat virtual interviews just as you would a face to face interview.
4. Be On Time
Plan to arrive at least 10-15 minutes early for your interview. This will give you time to find the right location and relax a bit before the interview starts. Being on time shows that you are responsible and respectful of other people’s time.
In 2023, employers are dealing with a lot of no-call, no-show, for interviews. Which means that just showing up on time is enough to help you stand out and will make a great first impression!
5. Bring a Resume
Even if you don’t have a lot of job experience, you can still make a simple resume that highlights your skills, interests, and achievements. You can include things like grades, extracurricular activities, and volunteer work.
If you have a full work history, list your most current work first. If there are gaps in your employment, think about how you will explain those gaps and practice your answers in the mirror, or to someone you trust.
6. Be Confident
Remember that the interviewers are interested in getting to know you and your skills, so try to be yourself and answer the questions honestly.
It’s okay to pause for a second to collect your thoughts before answering a question. If you’re feeling nervous, take a deep breath and remember that it’s okay to make mistakes. Just do your best and be proud of yourself for trying!
By following these tips, you’ll be well on your way to acing your next interview! Remember, preparation is key, so take the time to get ready beforehand and you’ll be sure to impress the interviewers. Good luck!
